Derry man charged with assaulting two people, including former partner

Neil McFeely (39) of Lawrence Hill was arrested after police responded to a call of a disturbance
A man has appeared at Derry Magistrates Court charged with assaulting two people, including his former partner.
Neil McFeely (39) of Lawrence Hill was arrested after police responded to a call of a disturbance after midnight on June 25.
When they arrived, police were told how McFeely had allegedly assaulted a man and a woman, his former partner, on June 23.
The court heard that both people were in McFeely's flat on the day of the alleged assault. McFeeley was then said to have gone to the woman's flat, which was next door to his own, with a friend.
McFeely was said to have pushed past his former partner, causing her to fall over a side table. It was then alleged that he threw an ornament at her.
The court was then told that McFeely and his friend punched the other alleged victim before going back to their own flats.
Police objected to bail as McFeely has a history of domestic abuse and they believe that he is at risk of reoffending.
McFeely has 36 previous convictions, including six for domestic incidents with two previous partners. He also has 14 previous breaches of bail and a number of breached suspended sentences.
Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott told the court that McFeely denied the charged and that a bail address could be provided in Portrush.
He was released on bail of £500 and will appear again on July 18.
