Derry man charged with breaching High Court bail and resisting police

Kiral McGilloway (35) of Drumbane Gardens in Derry appeared charged with breaching High Court bail and resisting police
A man who became 'highly volatile' when confronted by police has appeared at Derry Magistrate's Court today charged with resisting police.
Kiral McGilloway (35) of Drumbane Gardens in Derry appeared charged with breaching High Court bail and resisting police on April 30.
The court was told police attended an address after reports of a disturbance.
Police entered the property to ensure there was no one in need of assistance.
When police entered McGilloway was described as being 'highly aggressive' and police believed he was under the influence of alcohol in breach of bail conditions.
The defendant was asked to take a preliminary breath test but refused and when police went to arrest and handcuff him he 'pulled away' and continued to struggle.
Bail was opposed due to the risk of reoffending and the fact McGilloway had refused to take the breath test.
Defence counsel Fergal McCormack said his client had been granted bail in the High Court at the end of February and this was his first breach.
He said that there was no further complaint and the court could be confident he would comply with conditions.
McGilloway was released on bail to appear again on May 29.
