Parliamentarian-led group visits the iconic Peace Murals at Free Derry Wall following a council-led regeneration showcase

Derry City and Strabane District Council has officially hosted a high-profile delegation from Initiatives of Change UK (IofC UK), showcasing the city’s milestone advancements in green sustainability, urban regeneration, and historical peace-building.

The visiting delegation was led by Mike Kane MP, Chair of Trustees for Initiatives of Change UK, alongside a panel of organisation trustees. The comprehensive itinerary provided the group with an immersive look at how the region is seamlessly bridging its historic heritage with cutting-edge, future-focused infrastructure.

The civic tour commenced in St. Columb’s Park with a visit to the Acorn Farm Project, the Council’s flagship environmental and food sustainability hub.

Following the environmental showcase, the delegation moved to the Guildhall for a strategic briefing on the transformative Derry City Region City Deal. Representatives presented the latest development blueprints for the highly anticipated Derry DNA Museum, a cornerstone cultural infrastructure project designed to preserve and project the city’s complex history to a global audience.

The visit concluded with a walking tour of the world-renowned Peace Murals at Free Derry Wall.
