Draperstown sponsored side win GAA World Games double

Middle East GAA sponsored by Sperrin Metal Storage Solutions captured an incredible double victory at the first ever GAA World Games in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

It is not the first great victory for the Draperstown company who are famous for sponsoring Derry when they captured the 1993 All-Ireland title.

Middle East GAA captured both the ladies and men`s crowns in front of a large crowd at the Zayed Sports Cirty.

 James Kennedy, Chairman of Middle East GAA was delighted with the success, saying: “It was an amazing day for us at the GAA World Games and we would like to express thanks to our great sponsors Sperrin Metal Storage Solutions.

New GAA President Aogán O`Feargháil described the first world Games as “it’s been historic, great games and a hint of the future for the GAA.”

Middle East beat Australasia in the ladies final while the men`s team beat their Middle East counterparts.

Peter Gormley, Managing Director of Sperrin Metal said: “It’s just brilliant to be involved and to sponsor the first winners of the GAA World Games.”
