District Judge Ted Magill grants a six-month deferral but issues a strict warning over stalking-related order.

A man has appeared at Derry Magistrate's Court after breaching his restraining order.

David Laird (34) of Sperrin Park in Derry was charged with the offence that was said to have occurred between May 2025 and May 2026, when he was reported to be in an area he was prohibited from entering.

Police arrested Laird and he made full admissions when questioned and there were no other offences reported.

The restraining order follows a charge of stalking in June 2024 and a breach in September 2025.

District Judge Ted Magill told the defendant that he seemed to gondown this street regularly which was causing stress and upset to his victim.

He deferred the case for six months, warning Laird that, should he breach again, he will likely end up in custody.
