Hegarty turns down Derry City manager's job

Paul Hegarty has turned down the chance to manage Derry City on a permanent basis.

It had been widely anticipated the Donegal man (pictured) would take on the role at Brandywell after successfully keeping the Candy Stripes in the Airticity Premier Division.

However, following a meeting with club chairman, Philip O’Doherty, today he has turned down the position, citing “personal reasons.”

Former Manchester United players Andrei Kanchelskis and Pat McGibbon are among those who have expressed an interest in the post.
