The sister of a County Derry man who was killed in a car crash yesterday morning has launched a fundraising campaign in his memory.

Ryan McCaul, from Drum, died after his Audi car was involved in a collision with a van on the Foreglen Road, outside Dungiven.

The 31 year-old was making his way to work when the collision happened at around 6.30am.

Today, Mr McCaul’s sister Ciara  launched a JustGiving page to raise funds for Action Cancer – a charity which was very close to Ryan’s heart.

In recent years Ryan, who beat cancer three times, ran the New York and Chicago marathons to raise money for the charity.

A message posted on the Just Giving page by Ciara stated: “Ryan had raised £1000's in support of this great charity before his untimely death. Having beaten cancer 3 times in his short life, he was truly an inspiration to everyone.

“Please donate whatever you can, anything at all would be greatly appreciated. Ryan was planning on running another marathon with my Dad and we hope to honour his memory in this way.”

The page has already raised almost £800.
