According to festival co-organiser, Ollie Green, Studio 2’s Artistic Director, the ‘Awakening Festival 2018’ promises to be a “wonderful showcase of Ireland’s most talented traditional musicians and artists.”
Mr Green said: “The ‘Awakening Festival 2018’ will feature an eclectic programme of events, including our Céilί Mόr and ‘Home from the Hinterlands’, a series of Irish Traditional Music Sessions, which will fill our city centre streets and byways with music, dance and storytelling.
“We are also planning a ‘Dance Derry’ Spectacular, which will bring hundreds of Irish Dancers together to perform on the Peace Bridge on Bank Holiday Monday.
“The ‘Awakening Festival 2018’ promises to ring loud and proud across Derry’s streets.
“Nowhere will this be more apparent than during our ‘Irish Legends’ Concert, which will feature exceptional, internationally acclaimed Trad musicians of the calibre of Martin Donohoe, Jim Mc Grath, Michael Carey, Gabby Ardle, Philp Clarke, Marcas Ó Murchu, Josie Nugent and Brian Stafford, who will be joined by our home-grown Trad legends, Siobhan and Brendan Molly and Karen Carlin.
