Derry charged with breaching bail conditions

A man has appeared at Derry Magistrates’ Court following a breach of his bail conditions.

Sean Morrison (36) of Great James Street in Derry was on bail for domestic offences including attempted criminal damage in March this year.

His conditions included that he not consume alcohol and he have no contact with the alleged injured party.

On July 1, the alleged injured party called 999 to report that Morrison was in her home and police could hear him saying his name and date of birth over the phone.

When police arrived, Morrison appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and refused to take a preliminary breath test.

Police objected to bail as they believe there is a risk of reoffending or interfering with the course of justice.

Defence Barrister Stephen Chapman said that Morrison had allegedly been invited for drinks by his former partner at her flat but they subsequently 'had a falling out' as both have issues with alcohol.

He said that there had been no new offending and Morrison had been on bail since March with no issue.

Bail was granted and he will appear again on July 27.
