Man given suspended sentence for putting his sister in fear of assault

A man has been given a suspended sentence at Derry Magistrate's Court today for putting his sister in fear of assault.
Keelin Devine (24) of Summerhill Park in Derry was charged with a charge of assault that occurred on March 27 this year and another charge of wasting police time on March 28.
The court heard that police were in attendance at an address and Devine was observed approaching his sister with his teeth gritted and his fist clenched.
The court heard that the victim was so in fear that she took shelter behind police officers.
Devine was sentenced to three months in prison suspended for 18 months and had a Restraining Order imposed for a period of two years.
