The Irish Government has been called to honour its £50 million for the upgrade of the A5.

The call comes from Foyle Sinn Féin MLA Raymond McCartney said funding needed to be in place so that the “vital infrastructural project” could be taken forward.

Mr McCartney said: "Following Enda Kenny's comments yesterday we want to see the commitment on funding for the A5 given by the Irish government in the Stormont House Agreement last Christmas honoured.

"At that stage the Irish government committed £50m to the project and I welcome the confirmation from the Taoiseach yesterday that he will continue to honour that commitment.
