McLaughlin calls for clarity on future of Lisahally Jobs
The future of jobs at the Social Security Agency office at Lisahally in Derry is to be raised with Social Minster Mevyn Storey.
Sinn Fein Foyle MLA Maeve McLaughlin (pictured above) said she highlighted concerns of staff in December last when it was learned up to 30 jobs could be lost as a result of moving records to a central location.
She added: “I subsequently raised this is a question to the DSD Minister in December looking for clarity on the future of the Derry jobs and urged management at the Social Security Agency to engage with staff and trade unions to discuss their concerns about this.
“I have been contacted by worried workers over the weekend concerned they have had very little news on what the future holds for them and fears they could be out of a job in a couple of weeks’ time.”
Ms McLaughlin concluded: “The workers need clarity and I will be raising this again with the Minister as a matter of urgency.”
