New Stakeknife book to have Derry launch this weekend

A new book examining the role of British army agent Stakeknife is set to have its Derry launch.

'Stakeknife's Dirty War' by former IRA prisoner Richard O'Rawe will be launched in the Republican Ex-Prisoners Centre, William Street, on Saturday, September 30 at approx 3.00pm.

In 2003 Belfast republican Freddie Scappaticci was named as Stakeknife, although he denied the allegation.

Scappaticci, who died earlier this year, was a former commander of the IRA's Internal Security Unit (ISU), which was responsible for hunting down suspected informers and agents.

Mr O'Rawe also examines with the role of the Tasking and Co-ordinating Groups (TCGs), which included representatives of RUC Special Branch, MI5 and the British army's Force Research Unit.
