Primerose Street Utility Box now secured by City Centre Initiative Rangers

City Centre Initiative Rangers secured the open utility cabinet on Primrose Street in Derry at 9:30pm yesterday evening.

The unsecured box was brought to the attention of the public yesterday by SDLP Councillor Martin Reilly.

Niall Doran of the City Centre Initiative said: "Although Primrose Street is outside of the City Centre remit and the utility cabinet appears to be property of a telephone/internet provider, we like to assist where possible to ensure that any hazards which present themselves are dealt with as quickly as possible, ensuring the safety of the public.

"We welcome the fact that the area is now safe again and that any potential incidents associated with the open utility cabinet have been averted.
