STAT ATTACK! Derry City's Mark Timlin showing why he is the one to watch right now

Derry City’s rising star isn’t looking back.

It seems that, since Mark Timlin burst onto the scene as a bright spark in an otherwise poor display down in Dundalk back in April, the Buncrana teenager has only gone from strength to strength.

In fact, the swagger with which the lively winger has strutted with in recent weeks is indicative of the form shown by the Candy Stripes of late.

Derry City are playing top football and Mark Timlin is right there with them (Click on View Gallery above to take a look at his stats from the Bray game).

Peter Hutton taking over the reins at the Brandywell has only brought the number 19 further ahead and, in his debut season, Timlin is starting to find his stride.

Against Bray on Sunday evening, the wide man saw just one – that’s right, one – of his passes go astray throughout his 70 minutes on the field.

Over two thirds of his balls played were played forward as his passing stats show how he continued to seek out Rory Patterson and Patrick McEleney with every ball and he went off on eight dribbles throughout the game, six of which yielded results.

In fact, the third and really the killer goal of the league encounter at the weekend came from a driving run from Timlin straight through the middle of the park before playing McEleney into the box who squared for Patterson to make it 3-0.

The stats also show two of Timlin’s crosses going down as incomplete but these were dangerous, whipping corners which caused havoc in the Wanderers box and could just as easily have created a goal-scoring opportunity.

Mark Timlin’s performance encapsulates the mood at the Brandywell at the moment.  He is exciting, he is direct and he is looking to make things happen.

Long may it continue.
