A local playwright has warned that his steamy new offering could get him 'run out of Derry.’

Brian Foster’s ‘When the Bogside Spinster Met the Carndonagh Stud’ is being billed as the ‘funniest, craziest, naughtiest show of 2016’.

The show will run at the Millennium Forum from Wednesday, November 16, to Saturday, November 19 next..

Based on his well-known classic ‘The Butterfly of Killybegs’, the story focuses on 43-year-old spinster, Mary Coyle, who is desperate to lose her virginity.

When she meets Inishowen lothario Patsy McDaid at the Embassy Ballroom she thinks all her dream are about to come true.

But both Patsy and Mary have a secret and they are about to come out.

Pat Lynch heads up a cast of well-known Derry and Donegal actors as the Carndonagh stud.

Lynch is well known to local theatre goers from Foster’s 2013 play ‘From the Camp to the Creggan’, which drew the biggest theatre audience of the City of Culture year.

“‘When the Bogside Spinster met the Carndonagh Stud’ a reworking, but it’s vastly changed- it’s much more raunchy,” Mr Foster said.

“This is the kind of thing that could get me run out of Derry,” he joked.

“The people of Derry love a good laugh. If you ask people to come to the theatre and pay admittance you have to give them something they can relate to can come out and say ‘that was a good night’.

“My aim, first and foremost, is to entertain and this is a hugely entertaining story.”

Tickets are already selling well amongst broad minded theatre goers.

“I’ve had more plays staged at the Millenium Forum than any other local playwright and I’ve built up a big local audience, both in Derry and Donegal” explained Mr Foster.

“We’ve even got a coach coming up from Sligo.

Foster is perhaps best known for his moving one woman play about an alcoholic street drinker ‘Maire Woman of Derry’.

He has now re-worked it as ‘Myra’s Story’ and it makes its New York debut on 42nd Street on the same week ‘‘When the Bogside Spinster met the Carndonagh Stud’ opens.

But Mr Foster will be missing his opening night in the Big Apple.

“I’m the producer, writer, director and marketing manager of ‘When the Bogside Spinster met the Carndonagh Stud’ and I even make the tea at the interval, so I won’t be able to go,” he laughed
