ATU Fashion Design with Promotion student Micky Joe Towns is set to appear as a contestant in a new sustainable fashion series, Síorstíl.

The Milford native “applied and had a number of interviews to be selected for the final six competitors, when he was still in the second year of the degree programme,” ATU explain.

Síorstíl, on TG4 which premieres on Wednesday, January 15, at 8.30pm, with Moya Doogan, from Moville, who works in the costume department for film and television, on the judging panel.

Síorstíl, produced by Fibín Media, is a revolutionary fashion competition that challenges six talented designers to transform second-hand and recycled materials into high-fashion masterpieces. Hosted by Sinéad Ní Uallacháin and also judged by Rónán Ó Dálaigh.

“Síorstíl on TG4 is not just a competition but a movement to rethink how we approach fashion in the modern world,” ATU Donegal posted. “This is just one of the many skills that graduates studying on the BA in Fashion Design with Promotion programme perfect!

“The degree programme places an emphasis on sustainable practices in fashion and students are encouraged to design with circularity at the core of their design thinking. Best of luck to MickyJoe and well done on such a fantastic achievement!”.
