Inishowen Rivers Trust and River Basin Management Service call on the community to help protect the local river environment

Volunteers are encouraged to take part in a community action day along the Bredagh River in Moville today, Saturday, 17 October, from 11am to 2pm.

Organised by Inishowen Rivers Trust in partnership with the River Basin Management Service, the Bredagh River Community Action Day will bring people together for a few hours of practical conservation work aimed at improving and protecting the local environment.

Volunteers will take part in a range of activities, including litter picking, removing invasive Salmonberry, planting trees, and carrying out repairs and clean-up work at the Bredagh River Bird Hide.

The initiative offers local people an opportunity to get outdoors this afternoon, meet others in the community and make a positive contribution to the health and appearance of the river and its surrounding habitats.

Organisers are keen to stress that no previous experience is necessary and that people of all experience levels are welcome to attend. Whether participants can offer a helping hand with planting, litter collection or general maintenance, every contribution will help support the ongoing care of the Bredagh River.

The meeting point is J. Havlin Motors in Moville. The event is free to attend, and volunteers are encouraged to book a place in advance via Eventbrite under Bredagh River Community Day.

The action day forms part of the wider Bredagh River Project, supported by the River Basin Management Service through funding from the Community Water Development Fund (CWDF).

Inishowen Rivers Trust is inviting residents and anyone with an interest in protecting local waterways and wildlife to come along, get involved and help make a difference.

With a few hours of community effort, volunteers can help create a cleaner, healthier environment for the Bredagh River and the wildlife that depends on it.
