Donegal GAA club shorts spotted on US popstar's Rolling Stone photoshoot

US popstar Gracie Abrams was wearing boyfriend Paul Mescal’s Naomh Conaill GAA shorts in recent Rolling Stone photoshoot
Grammy-nominated singer Gracie Abrams was photographed wearing a pair of white Naomh Conaill GAA shorts from Donegal in a recent photoshoot.
The US popstar appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone ahead of her upcoming world tour and following the success of her recent album, Daughter from hell.
It’s understood that Gracie Abrams has been in a relationship with Kildare actor Paul Mescal since 2024, and it seems he is to thank for the Donegal GAA shorts.
Paul Mescal was gifted the Naomh Conaill shorts in 2021 from local Micheál Brennan, while he was working in Donegal filming the drama God’s Creatures alongside Emily Watson.
Paul had previously received lots of attention for making the GAA shorts a fashion statement, but the American popstar hopping on the trend came as a surprise to many.
GAA sportswear brand O’Neill’s were even in shock, taking to Instagram saying, “the names just keep getting bigger...”
While many Kildare GAA fans may be disappointed that Gracie didn’t wear a pair of shorts from Mescal’s home county, the fashion statement is certainly a win for Donegal!
