Defendant faces charges relating to alleged offences in Bundoran and Ballyshannon

A bench warrant has been issued against a Bundoran resident who failed to be present at Ballyshannon District Court on two alleged theft charges.

Garda Sergeant Oliver Devaney applied for a bench warrant to be issued for Anne Ward, 62, of 15 Armada Cottages, Bundoran, when she was not present at Ballyshannon Courthouse, before Judge Éiteáin Cunningham.

Ward faces two alleged offences, both contrary to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act 2001.

On August 5, 2024, at Lidl, Bundoran, it was alleged that the defendant did steal property, vodka, wine and other groceries to the value of €46.53, and on April 13, 2026, at Centra, Assaroe Road, Ballyshannon, it was alleged that the defendant did steal €41.85.

Referencing the ongoing criminal defence solicitor industrial dispute, Judge Cunningham said Ward was “specifically to appear, which pre-dates industrial action.”
