A man has pleaded guilty to seriously assaulting a woman in Dunfanaghy.

Kevin Donnelly appeared before Letterkenny Circuit Court, where he entered a guilty plea.

The 41-year-old, with an address at Glenside, Omagh, spoke only to say ‘guilty’ when he was formally arraigned before Judge John Aylmer.

Donnelly is charged with assaulting the woman and causing her harm on September 10, 2023 at Market Square, Dunfanaghy.

Barrister for the accused, Mr Peter Nolan BL, told the court that his client has no previous convictions.

State Barrister Ms Fiona Crawford BL informed Judge Aylmer that a victim impact statement would be required in the case.

Mr Nolan added that his client would be anxious to offer some compensation and asked for an adjournment.

Judge Aylmer adjourned the matter until the May sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court.
