Marius Lynch memorial fundraiser in Gweedore raises €24,000 for Donegal Hospice

A fundraising night in honour of "larger than life" character Marius Lynch has raised a whopping €24,000 for Donegal Hospice.
An Chúirt Hotel in Gweedore played host to a very memorable evening filled with music and entertainment, to raise funds for a cause very close to Marius' family's heart.
Marius, formerly of Clonmany, Gweedore and Glasgow, was a larger-than-life character who everyone knew and loved, sadly passed away last year from cancer in the wonderful care of Donegal Hospice.
Marius' daughters Marisa, Shauna and Carolanne, organised the special event to give back to the Hospice and to raise awareness of how vital this end-of-life care is.
As it stands, there is only one Hospice in the whole of Donegal, a population of approximately 170,000, with just eight beds.
Marisa, her sisters, and their large extended family were hoping to raise awareness for this and get the ball rolling for more services like this being built to give dignity to people in their end-of-days.
A great night in Gweedore saw donations rise to an incredible €24,000 with the family saying they were "overwhelmed" and "forever grateful".
In a post on Facebook, Marisa Lynch said: "Well, The Final count on the Donations has been calculated and handed into the Donegal Hospice.
"The total amount is €24,200 and We can't thank u all enough personally but We the Lynch Family are just overwhelmed and forever grateful to you all who helped make this night happen.
"Thank you all so so much and god bless you, Dad's watching you all and watch out for the signs."
