Parts of Bundoran could be without water again this evening and next week

A National Leakage Reduction Programme will see yet more mains repair works at Main Street, Bundoran and surrounding areas, which may may cause supply disruptions this evening.

And more are planned in the resort from Tuesday to Thursday of next week in the popular resort, just after the May Bank Holiday.

Contacted by Donegallive.ie in relation to the repairs, local councillor Michael McMahon said:

"They want get to all things done before the start of the main part of the tourist season. There is a moratorium on water repair works taking place in July and August as agreed with Uisce Éireann and Donegal County Council unless of course, there is an emergency water situation or sewage issue.

"As can be seen, no repairs are taking place over the May Bank Holiday weekend either.  Water mains are crucial for the continuing supply of water around the town and it is important that they get fixed as soon as can be done, as the amounts of water used, especially during the summer months, is greater than at other times of the year."

Works are scheduled to take place from 7pm until 9pm this Thursday evening (April 27), with a reference number on Uisce Éireann website of DON00061745, to check for updates regarding the Main Street situation.

Uisce Eireann and Donegal County Council also reported a water disruption issue yesterday which necessitated carrying out repairs to a burst water to Tullan Strand, Bundoran and surrounding areas.

In all cases Uisce Éireann (replacing Irish Water since January 1, 2023) recommend users to wait 2-3 hours after the estimated restoration time for your supply to fully return.

Meanwhile Meter installation work was also carried out yesterday in the Doran Close, Bundoran and surrounding areas.

Again as part of the National Leakage Reduction Programme, mains repair works may cause intermittent supply disruptions to Bay View Avenue, Bundoran and surrounding areas from 6pm on May 2 until 8pm on May 4 (Tuesday to Thursday next).
