Donegal people are being urged to boycott Teva Pharmaceuticals, the maker of Sudocrem.
People are being urged to call their pharmacies and ask to switch their medicines from the Israeli company Teva Pharmaceuticals to other brands in protest against Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Teva Pharmaceuticals has supported its staff to fight in Gaza, and the huge amount of tax revenue it generates gives Israel more money to continue its bombardment of Gaza.
Campaigners advocating for peace and justice for Palestinians have argued that boycotting Teva is one of the best ways people can stand up against Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
“Israel has been carrying out a genocide on the people of Gaza for almost two years now and international leaders have failed to act,” Brian Cuthbert, Deputy Director at campaign group Uplift, said. “Ordinary people all over Ireland have been doing everything that they can to stop the genocide. With one phone call to your pharmacist, you can stop hundreds of euros from going to the Israeli government. Our healthcare shouldn’t cost the lives of men, women, and children in Gaza.
“Most generic medicines are made by several different companies, so there are identical alternatives available, and each person who switches from Teva to another brand of medicine is making a big difference. There’s huge support for this campaign, and we hope that pharmacies will hear our call and stop stocking Teva products where possible.”
