Eddie Walsh & Sons Traditional Butcher Shop (EWS) swept the Donegal honours as Scobie & Junor Northern Ireland hosted their annual sausage competition.

EWS Donegal was named the county champion, as well as winning the Best Pork award and the Best Speciality for their pork and apple range.

Entries were received from across the North and Dongal and judged through a blind tasting process, highlighting the exceptional skill and craftsmanship within the local butchery trade.

Awards were presented for Best Butcher’s Apprentice, County Champions, and the overall Supreme Champion.

As part of their continued commitment to supporting the community, all proceeds from entry fees and raffle tickets (£2,675) were donated to the Air Ambulance Northern Ireland Charity.

The Overall Supreme Champion Sausage Makers for 2026 were Gregory McGlinchy from McNicholls Eurospar, Dungiven, Co Derry and the Best Butcher’s Apprentice was Tieran Meehan, Clogher Valley Meats, from Clogher, Co Tyrone.

EWS Donegal was established in June 1962 by Eddie Walsh and they have two shops, situated in Ballintra and Donegal Town.
