Woman who 'didn't realise' she parked in disabled bay fined

A Letterkenny woman has been fined for parking in a disabled parking bay in Milford.
Marie Lynagh claimed that she ‘didn’t realise’ she was in a disabled bay.
Lynagh appeared at Letterkenny District Court this week.
Sergeant Gerard Dalton told the court that Gardai were on patrol at Main Street, Milford, on January 27, 2021, when they noticed a vehicle illegally parked in a disabled bay.
A fixed charge penalty notice (FCPN) was issued, but was not paid.
Solicitor Mr Kieran O’Gorman said his client was pleading guilty.
“She didn’t realise she was in a disabled bay, she went into the shop and came out,” Mr O’Gorman said. “She put her hands up and just didn’t realise it. She is of impeccable character.”
Lynagh, who has no previous convictions, was convicted and fined €200 by Judge Éiteáin Cunningham, getting five months to pay the sum.
