Daniel Breheny is just 18 years old, a great and funny kid. From Co Sligo, he swims with Carrick Fins Swimming Club in Carrick-on-Shannon where his mum, Clare is a coach.

Daniel had a seizure and cardiac arrest in August 2022 out of the blue. He was resuscitated and stayed in intensive care in hospital in Sligo, however no diagnosis was attained.

Daniel went home, however, unfortunately, he then had another seizure and cardiac arrest on December 27, 2022. He was revived again but stayed in a semi unconscious state up until three weeks ago.

A miracle his family dared to dream, Daniel has woken to a world where he will have a long road to recovery.

He has finally been diagnosed with a rare condition called Brugada syndrome.

He is on a waiting list to get into The National Rehabilitation Centre, Dùn Laoghaire, Dublin where they will help Daniel to relearn everyday skills.

A gofundme page has been set up to help Daniel which can be found by searching 'Daniel's Road to Recovery.' Already over €22,000 has been donated.

So this is Daniel's road to recovery and on behalf of his mam, dad, and brothers, we thank you for any support you can give.
