No funding for Drumshanbo playground

The playground at Dristernan, Drumshanbo has missed the deadline for the Play and Recreation Funding Scheme for 2023.

At the recent Ballinamore Municipal District meeting, Cllr Enda McGloin asked if the playground could be refurbished and updated to include more items for older children and also to be more inclusive for children with mobility or special needs.

Cllr Brendan Barry supported the motion and said this playground is quite dated, Cllr Gerry Dolan agreed. The councillors heard that upgrading playgrounds is very expensive and €5,000 a year is spent maintaining Leitrim’s playgrounds.
