“Gerty was a very lovely lady who brightened up everyone's day in Carrigallen Day Centre, with her love of fun, music, singing and conversation, as well as an interest in everyone that she met. We will all miss her very much,” said another.
Another recalled, “Gerty was a very kind and helpful neighbour to us over a long number of years. When there were no landline phones in most houses she had one due to the business and allowed neighbours to use it when required rather than having to travel to the public kiosk in Carrigallen.”
Funeral Mass will take place in St Joseph’s Church, Aughavas, today, Monday, November 2, at 12pm, followed by burial in St. Mary's Church cemetery, Carrigallen.
Others shared fond memories of Gerty, with one saying, “We loved visiting her when we were on holidays in Leitrim. We always got a lonely welcome and we loved our chats with her.”
“Gerty was a delightful lady who will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her,” said another.
