Walk-in flu vaccination clinics for children are available in Leitrim until Friday

The HSE advises parents and caregivers that free flu vaccines for children are available in Leitrim local clinics until Friday, December 29. 

Children ages 2-17 can avail of their free nasal flu without booking an appointment.

Dr Aparna Keegan, Consultant in Public Health Medicine with the HSE’s National Immunisation Office, said: “We encourage all parents to avail of these walk-in clinics as we expect flu numbers to rise over the coming weeks. With increased socialisation at this time of year the risk of contracting flu becomes greater.

“Children are more likely to contract and pass on the flu and can become seriously ill as a result. Vaccinating children protects them – and their siblings, parents, grandparents and those who are vulnerable.”

Symptoms of flu in children can include high temperature, muscle pains, headache and extreme tiredness. 

There are five local clinics available for walk-in or by-appointment vaccination in Leitrim: Boots Carrick-on-Shannon, Cara Pharmacy Ballinamore, Cara Pharmacy Drumshanbo, Manor Chemists Gaynors and RJS Pharmacy.
