GoFundMe set up for Carlow hit-and-run victim as video footage released

A GoFundMe has been set up for the biker who was the victim of a hit-and-run in Carlow
A GoFundMe has been set up for the biker who was left seriously injured following a hit-and-run in Carlow.
On July 8th, a stolen Ford Ranger with four teenagers inside “mowed down” the man while he was waiting at traffic lights.
The teenagers were attempting to escape a Garda chase when they hit the man, Jackson, who is now facing an 8-12 week hospital stay.
“No one should have to go through something like this alone. We in the biking community are raising funds to help a fellow biker,” the GoFundMe page states.
The car that hit Jackson failed to stop and fled the scene.
A video from dashcam footage that captured the incident is linked on the GoFundMe page, and shows the car driving onto the footpath to avoid having to stop at traffic lights.
Jackson suffered severe injuries, including two shattered eye sockets, broken ribs, a shattered pelvis, and “massive” internal injuries.
He is also facing the potential of losing his sight.
“In a matter of moments, Jacksons life and the life of this wife and their young son who has not celebrated his first birth, has been turned upside down. What should have been an ordinary day became the start of an unimaginable fight for survival, and recovery,” the page says.
The GoFundMe has been set up as the family is now down one income for the foreseeable future.
“Any amount, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to give, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping Jackson in your thoughts and prayers,” the GoFundMe says.
