Caught! Penalty points for dangerous overtaking on accident prone road in Kilkenny

A fixed charge notice was also issued
Kilkenny Gardaí caught a motorist red handed this week as they spotted a very dangerous overtaking manoeuvre on a well known accident prone road.
Sharing the news on Facebook, An Garda Síochána Kilkenny said.
"Double White Lines = no Overtaking
"Our Roads Policing Unit stopped the driver of a vehicle who overtook a jeep and trailer on the N76 in Cuffesgrange ( a collision prone location) a few minutes ago. A fixed charge notice with fine and penalty points issued.
"Head on collisions result from poor Overtaking Choices."
People were quick to comment under the post, echoing the dangers that Gardaí had outlined, with some saying there is a "It won't happen to me" mentality.
Other comments said,
"That goes on every day on that road and the ring road between watershed and bennettsbridge roundabout only a matter of time before there is a bad accident on it."
While another said,
"The days of respect and responsibility on the roads are long gone. Sadly those road users with these values are few and far between. Sadly we drive with an “It won’t happen to me” optimism bias. Until it does. Please share the roads safely and respectfully."
