Kilkenny Castle turning Blood Red tonight!

Kilkenny Castle is lighting up red tonight (Thursday) in support of #WorldBloodDonorDay!

The theme for 2024 is “20 years of celebrating giving: thank you blood donors!”

The 20th anniversary of World Blood Donor Day is an excellent opportunity to thank blood donors across the country for their life-saving donations over the years and honour the profound impact on both patients and donors.

Transfusion of blood and blood products helps and save millions of lives every year.

It can help patients who suffering from life-threatening conditions live longer and with higher quality of life, and supports complex medical and surgical procedures.

It also has an essential, life-saving role in maternal and perinatal care.
