Kilkenny GAA issues statement on serious issue of discrimination

Kilkenny GAA has reaffirmed its stance against discrimination, emphasising inclusion, diversity, and respect across hurling and football in the county
Kilkenny GAA has issued a fresh statement affirming that the association “is for everyone — regardless of background, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, ability, or beliefs.”
The Association says it embraces the Give Respect – Get Respect initiative to ensure games are played “in a fair, respectful, and enjoyable way for all — players, referees, coaches, parents, and supporters alike.”
The organisation says it upholds the GAA Child Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct, and will enforce the GAA Rules where necessary.
Citing Article 1.10 of the GAA Official Guide, the statement reads: “The Association is Anti-Sectarian, Anti-Racist and committed to the principles of inclusion and diversity at all levels.”
It warns that “any discriminatory behaviour is a serious offence,” carrying penalties of up to 48 weeks’ suspension.
It adds: “Together, let’s make sure everyone feels welcome and valued.”
