Kilkenny Youthreach is celebrating the remarkable achievement of one of its learners, Terry Byrne, who has been honoured with the Feargal Quinn Award for attaining full marks in the 2024 Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA) programme.

This prestigious award recognises excellence among LCA students nationwide.

LCA is a practical, hands-on alternative to the traditional Leaving Certificate and is based on a continuous assessment model.

Terry received an engraved trophy at a special awards ceremony held in Athlone, organised by the Leaving Certificate Applied National Association (LCANA).

The event was a celebration of hard work, perseverance, and academic success.

Terry was proudly supported on the day by his family and centre staff.

Speaking about the achievement, Michelle Murphy, Kilkenny Youthreach Co-ordinator expressed immense pride.

"Terry's accomplishment is a testament to his dedication and commitment to our two year programme in Youthreach and we couldn’t be more proud," she said.

"Terry’s success shines as an inspiration to other learners pursuing the LCA programme. Congratulations to Terry and all his teachers at Kilkenny Youthreach on this incredible achievement!"

Kilkenny Youthreach is a KCETB centre of education for early school leavers aged 16-20 years old.

The centre provides the opportunity to sit Leaving Certificate programmes in an alternative setting and focusses on a safe, supportive and inclusive approach.
