The matter is set to be discussed at the next meeting of Kilkenny County Council

Local representatives are expected to call on Kilkenny County Council to write to the Minister for Transport in support of Waterford Airport in its endeavours to secure funding when councillors meet for the May Plenary Meeting of the local authority on Monday.

The South-East airport is seeking to secure funding from the Department of Transport to further develop its offering to customers in the region.

In a motion penned by councillors; Ger Frisby, Jenny Cat Slattery, Pat Dunphy, Fidelis Doherty and Tomàs Breathnach, the elected officials are expected to argue an appropriate funding allocation and the services said funding could allow the airport to provide would be of economic development to Kilkenny and enable business and tourism growth locally.
