Kilkenny County Council have officially issued a vesting order for a site located on Fr Hayden Road in Kilkenny City

The order marks a decisive move by the local authority to take ownership of the site, following the process outlined under the Derelict Sites Act 1990.

According to a council statement, the site on Fr Hayden Road has been identified as a derelict site, and the council has followed all necessary legal steps under Section 15 of the Act to address the matter.

An Bord Pleanala, the independent body that assesses planning applications and appeals, has consented to the compulsory acquisition of the land by the council.

With this vesting order, issued on October 21, Kilkenny County Council are scheduled to assume full ownership of the site on November 18, 2024.

The acquisition grants the council fee simple ownership of the land, free from any previous encumbrances, rights, or claims.

This ensures that the council has clear authority to take the necessary actions to restore or repurpose the site.

A copy of the vesting order, along with a map of the property, is available for inspection at the Planning Section of Kilkenny County Council, County Hall, John Street, Kilkenny, during regular office hours.
