A new planning application has been submitted in relation to the former Sinnott’s building in Waterford city

The Causeway Group has submitted revised plans for a former nightclub building in Waterford city.

A new planning application has been submitted in relation to its plans for Sinnott’s Bar & Nightclub on John Street and Manor Street.

It has already been granted planning permission to convert the former nightclub into student accommodation.

These plans include the demolition of the existing vacant derelict structures at 29 & 30 John Street.

A new three-storey building will be constructed in their place and be amalgamated with the existing Sinnott’s property.

The development will consist of seven beds on the ground floor, 10 beds on the first floor and 12 beds on the second floor.

Student communal facilities, including dining rooms, games rooms and social areas are also planned.

As well as that, a number of external alterations and associated site works are set to be undertaken.

Waterford City and County Council granted permission for the development back in July 2024.

However, the Causeway Group has submitted new plans for the development in recent days.

It is seeking to make a number of alterations to the proposed development.

Namely, permission is being sought to construct an additional floor at 1-3 Manor Street, Waterford.

The roof space at 27-28 John Street would also undergo a change of use.

This would allow for the construction of an additional two apartments of six-beds and three-beds respectively.

There are also plans for a number of common rooms on the floor in question.

The Causeway Group submitted two similar planning applications in July and August, but both were subsequently deemed invalid.

This latest application was submitted on Wednesday, October 14 and is currently at the pre-validation stage.
