Newcastle don’t like Mondays after home defeat to Everton

The Magpies have lost all three of their matches held on a Monday night this season.
Newcastle suffered another blue Monday as they slipped to 1-0 defeat against Everton at St James’ Park.
Thierno Barry was on the scoresheet as the Magpies fell to their third defeat from as many games on a Monday during this campaign.
Their first Monday night fixture this term was a 4-1 loss to Leeds at Elland Road back in September as a Dominic Calvert-Lewin brace alongside Lewis Miley’s own goal gave the Yorkshire side a 3-0 advantage at half-time before Noah Okafor wrapped up the win.

Another Monday evening trip followed in October, with Newcastle on the receiving end of the same scoreline against Coventry, which secured the Sky Blues’ first home win of the season.
The Tynesiders looked to banish their Monday blues against Everton, but fell behind shortly after the break when Barry stabbed home from close range.
A disappointing display continued when substitute Jacob Ramsey was sent off at the death after picking up two yellow cards in quick succession as Newcastle fell to another Monday night defeat.
