The Cardinals ultimately managed to see the game out despite going a man down and conceding twice.

Ten-man Woking held on to beat struggling Scunthorpe 3-2 in the National League despite suffering a late scare.

The Cardinals took the lead in the seventh minute through Aiden O’Brien’s close-range finish and had their second in the 25th thanks to a John Marquis penalty following a foul on Nathan Paul-Lavaly.

The game looked like it had been decided in the 55th minute as O’Brien got his brace by sending the goalkeeper the wrong way, but there was plenty of drama still to come.

Scunthorpe’s James Norwood saw a penalty saved by Vicente Reyes after Rico Browne was sent off after putting his head in during a scuffle.

A 63rd-minute Norwood tap-in and cracking Luke Brennan free-kick six minutes before the end made the contest even more tense, but Woking ultimately managed to see the game out.
