Cheers! . . . Judge grants licence to serve alcohol at Galway Arts Festival events in Claddagh

A judge has given the green light for alcohol to be served at a Galway International Arts Festival event in the Claddagh, Galway City.
Judge Fiona Lydon granted an occasional licence to Malachy Duggan of The Blue Note (trading as Dawn Bay Limited) on William Street West to serve alcohol at Nimmo’s Pier, South Park, Claddagh.
The licence allows alcohol to be served at Carnation, a circus show by NoFit State, which is taking place in a big top tent at Claddagh during the two-week summer festival.
Kennedy Fitzgerald solicitors brought the application at the latest sitting of Derrynea District Court.
Judge Fiona Lydon granted the application after confirming all proofs were in order and the event was insured.
There was no Garda or HSE objection.
The licence permits the sale of alcohol for two hours every day from July 10 to July 23 inclusive.
The bar can open from 8pm-10pm during evening shows, and from 3pm to 5pm for matinees.
