Galway shop reopens again four months after closing

The people of the area have been delighted to welcome the shop back once again
A local Galway shop is reopening its doors once again just four months after it closed following the news of its changing Post Office.
Kelly’s Shop in Clarinbridge shut down at the start of June coinciding with the news that the Post Office, which was housed inside, was relocating to the nearby Londis shop in the village following the retirement of its postmistress.
Thankfully, only a few months on, the shop is back serving the people of the village reopening on Thursday at 9am much to the delight of the locals.
Hours after closing back in June, the Post Office, which was still located inside the shop at the time, was broken into.
The early morning incident is still being investigated by gardai but thankfully nothing was taken during the attempted theft.
A garda spokesman said: “Gardai responded to the scene having received a report of an alleged incident of burglary that occurred at a business premises in Clarinbridge, Galway on Saturday 06th June, 2026 shortly after 5:00am. Investigations are ongoing.”
