Chapel Street Gospel Choir performs at Barcelona’s iconic Sagrada Família ahead of its Christmas concerts

Castlebar’s award-winning Chapel Street Gospel Choir has brought its uplifting gospel harmonies to an international audience following a memorable trip to Spain.

Under the direction of Kathy Fahey, the choir has established a strong reputation for its performances and gospel, with its Spanish adventure providing an opportunity to showcase Mayo’s musical talent on an international stage.

One of the highlights of the trip was a performance at Barcelona’s Sagrada Família, one of the world’s most celebrated architectural landmarks.

The singers were delighted by the reception they received at the iconic venue, making the performance a particularly memorable moment for the group.

Reflecting on the choir’s continued progress, director Kathy Fahey said: “The group continues to go from strength to strength and the sold out crowd in the Sagrada Familia really enjoyed the experience.”

The choir also travelled to Calella, a seaside town on Spain’s Mediterranean coast, where members enjoyed another opportunity to share their music while experiencing the local atmosphere and culture.

The Castlebar group’s attention will now turn to one of the highlights of the choir’s annual calendar, its popular Christmas concerts.

Chapel Street Gospel Choir will perform two concerts at Christchurch on the Mall in Castlebar on Sunday, December 20, at 5pm and 8pm.

The concerts have become a much-anticipated fixture in the local Christmas calendar, attracting audiences keen to experience the choir’s gospel.
