The nomination places the Mayo show alongside some of the best-known names in Irish podcasting

Mayo are making waves off the pitch as well as on it, with popular GAA podcast Mayo Are Back shortlisted for an award at the 2026 All-Ireland Podcast Awards.

Hosted by the humorous duo TJ and Fat Larry, the show is nominated in the ePower Sport Podcast Awards category, alongside established names including Off The Ball’s The Football Pod and the Irish Independent’s Indo Sport.

Known for its humour and light-hearted take on Mayo GAA, the podcast has built a loyal following by offering something a little different from the usual football analysis.

The All-Ireland Podcast Awards has recently unveiled its 2026 shortlist, celebrating the best in Irish audio across 12 categories. In only its second year, the Awards has grown significantly. Six new categories have been introduced for 2026. They are Culture, Specialist, Branded, The Interview Series Award and Audio Publisher of the Year, with Audio Drama and Documentary now recognised as separate awards.

Together they reflect the breadth of Irish podcasting, from niche and specialist shows to the publishers and networks behind them. More than 200 entries were received, and they were assessed by an independent panel of judges from across podcasting, broadcasting, production and the wider media industry, led by Head of Judging Ruth Fitzsimons. The winners will be announced on Wednesday, November 11, at Fitzgeralds Woodlands Hotel in Adare, Co Limerick.
