Free Castlebar event will outline grants of up to €750,000 for sports facilities and equipment, with online attendance also available

Sports clubs and community groups across Mayo are being invited to attend a free information session on the Government’s Community Sport Facilities Fund 2026, hosted by Mayo Sports Partnership.

The event will take place on Monday, November 9, from 8pm to 9.30pm at Mayo Education Centre in Castlebar, with an option for participants to attend online.

The Community Sport Facilities Fund supports the development and improvement of sports and physical recreation facilities, as well as the purchase of sports equipment.

The 2026 funding programme offers a range of grants, including up to €250,000 for local projects, equipment grants of up to €70,000 and Tier 2 grants ranging from €250,000 to €550,000.

A new Tier 3 category will also provide grants of up to €750,000 for larger multi-sport projects.

The information session is designed to help clubs and community organisations understand the funding opportunities available, eligibility criteria, key dates and application process.

The workshop will be delivered by Joe Butler, who has extensive experience preparing sports capital funding applications for the Mayo League.

Attendees will be welcomed with tea and coffee before a detailed presentation on the fund. The evening will conclude with a Q&A session, allowing participants to seek advice on proposed projects and applications.

Mayo Sports Partnership said the event would be particularly useful for organisations considering new facilities, improvements to existing amenities or the purchase of sports equipment.
