Mayo team gone to the dogs with 'Andy' and 'Kobe' names
Kobe the most popular name for new Mayo dogs but Kiltimagh woman appropriately names her dog Andy
THE Mayo team are gone to the dogs these days! The outpourings of emotions in the aftermath of their sensational All-Ireland win over Kerry on July 26 is breaking all frontiers and is now spilling over into the canine world.
Meet 'Andy' Moran, a cockapoo puppy, born in July and now enjoying celebratory status around Kiltimagh and in the family Londis Store in town.
Ciara (Carroll) Moran, a member of the teaching staff at St Louis Community School, says that she had no option but to call him 'Andy' after Mayo’s All-Ireland win.
“Some may not be aware that Kobe is now the most popular name on Mayo dogs over the last three months.
“However, as a Moran, I just had to go for ‘Andy’ so now we have our own ‘Andy’ Moran here in the house.
“We do hope that the real Andy will drop by for a photo and meet his namesake when passing through Kiltimagh!”
