New traffic wardens begin “onboarding” this week in Limerick

LIMERICK Live can confirm that four new traffic wardens have been appointed in Limerick, bringing the total number of wardens across the city and county to 10.

There are currently six traffic wardens operating throughout Limerick, with four based in Limerick city, one in Kilmallock and one covering Newcastle West and Abbeyfeale.

A spokesperson for Limerick City and County Council told Limerick Live this Monday: “A recruitment process has recently been completed, and a number of successful candidates will commence onboarding this week.”

The new recruits will not immediately begin carrying out their duties as they will be required to complete their training and induction first.

“As with all new appointments, an initial period of training and induction will be required before the new traffic wardens are in a position to undertake their full duties,” the spokesperson added.

The appointments will see the number of traffic wardens employed across Limerick increase by 66%, representing a considerable boost to the council's existing team.

The existing six wardens are responsible for parking enforcement across the city and county, with just two wardens currently based outside Limerick city.

The four additional traffic wardens will be stationed in Limerick city.

Once all four have completed their training, Limerick will have a total of ten traffic wardens operating across the city and county.
