Tipperary Council to carry out speed surveys on three Carrick-on-Suir roads

Council agrees to conduct the surveys after councillor raises concern about safety on the roads
Tipperary County Council has agreed to carry out traffic speed surveys on three key approach roads into Carrick-on-Suir following an appeal from a councillor worried about road safety on them.
Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District Administrator Marie O’Gorman confirmed to Cllr David Dunne that speed surveys will be conducted on the Carrickbeg/Dungarvan Road, Carrickbeg/Waterford Road and St John’s Road in Carrick-on-Suir.
She did so at Carrick Municipal District’s latest monthly meeting in response to a motion the Sinn Féin councillor from Carrick-on-Suir tabled requesting the surveys.
Ms O’Gorman said the Council will produce a report and recommendations arising from the speed surveys’ findings. Cllr Dunne welcomed the County Council’s response.
He said the speed of traffic on approach roads into the town was a big issue and explained these surveys are necessary as the Council needs to back up the case for any traffic calming measures at such locations with facts.
