Local musician features

The Cahir Social and Historical Society’s ‘Culture at the Castle’ festival continued on with the visit of ‘Banshee Brass Quintet’to a full house in the Great Hall.

Led by our own Adam Buttimer on Euphonium, this charming group of young musicians gave us a tremendous exhibition of brass music with the musical highlight being their performance of an ‘Abba’ Medley and ‘Sweet Caroline’. It was great to see members of Adam's family and several former members of Cahir Brass and Reed Band in the audience.

There is just one event left in our ‘Culture at the Castle’ festival. Next up on Friday, July 17 the Society will be delighted to host Sarah Lafferty at the Great Hall of Cahir Castle for the final night of 'Culture at the Castle'. Sarah will perform her one-woman show from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, "How to Become a Movie Star".

This promises to be a wonderful finale to the summer festival programme. Admission is €15 and tickets are available online.

Seating is limited for this events so early booking is advised. Booking is available by scanning the code on the advertising posters and see Cahir Social & Historical Facebook page for details. Thanks again to the OPW and Tipperary County Council for their support.
