In aid of Irish Heart Foundation

A group of nine Defence Force personnel based in Curragh Camp are taking on the 32 peaks challenge to raise funds for the Irish Heart Foundation.

Fundraising is continuing in the run up to this epic challenge involving 27 peaks, 85 hours and 32lbs on their backs. Pictured above are Ciaran Murray, Jordan McCabe, Olympic Gold Medal Winner Michael Carruth, Adam English and Shane Doran. These are some of the people taking part.

"This June, we are on a mission. We will take on one of Ireland’s toughest endurance challenges: climbing the highest peak in each county with a goal of 85 relentless hours. That’s 27 mountains, 170km of hiking and roughly 2,000km of driving, all while carrying 32lbs to represent Ireland’s 32 counties," said the team.

"We’re not doing this for the thrill. We’re doing it for a cause that affects thousands of Irish families every year.. heart disease. Every step we take is in support of the Irish Heart Foundation, a charity dedicated to fighting cardiovascular disease and providing life-saving education, research, and support."

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in Ireland, impacting people of all ages.

"With your support, we can help fund critical research, prevention programs, and support for those affected," they added.
